Virgin Product not Virgin Plastics

Virgin Product not Virgin Plastics

Mitchell Sargent

Plastic... the greatest invention we were not ready for.

We produce 460million metric tonnes of plastic annually... only 9% of which is recycled.

With 8.3 Billion tonnes of plastic having been produced in total since its invention, and an estimated 75-199 million tonnes just floating around our oceans... we do NOT need any more.

Rather, we need to circulate what we already have in exsistance.

With ANY purchase you make, whether its from your local deli, a gift for a loved one whilst on vacation or the new pair of sunglasses for summer always consider the plastic components of the transaction.

Virgin products arent a problem, but virgin plastic is.

Does my small portion of meat from the deli REALLY need to be wrapped in plastic? If so, can it be recycled?

Does this gift or new pair of sunglasses contain and plastic? If so is it virgin plastic or recycled plastic?

The small changes that make a HUGE difference, are everywhere in front of us... we just need to be conscious of each transaction we are a part of.

And recycle anything that can be, not just feel good that it is recycleable then commit it to landfill (or worse... our oceans).
