    Yes, the Thread Counts, but not in the way you think it does.

    High Thread Count = High Quality? No

    The term 'Thread Count' has been misleading consumers for decades.

    Many brands using lower quality short staple cotton, then attaching small strands of cotton called 'Piles' to the thread which the appears to be thicker. Mimicking more threads being used.

    This method can make the sheets appear 2-4 times thicker. When really they are not at all.

    Charging consumers a high price tag when low quality cotton was used.

    Sustainable Threads That Count are: Traced Organic cotton - The cotton has to traced to make sure it a adheres to strict farming protocols, Recycled Cottons, or Regenerative cottons are traceable from farm to factory, minimising environmental impact.

    Long Staple Yarns Count: The length of the yarn makes a big difference to the quality of the sheet.

    Long Yarns are strong and soft and have durability.

    Short staple yarns are quicker and cheaper to grow leaving you with a lower quality cotton, with a course hand feel or heavily washed to make softer.

    At Common Thread we use super fine long staple organic cotton then tightly weave in a special process called 'Percale basket weaving'. This creates strength with a luxurious look and feel.

    Percale sheets offer exceptional comfort due to their soft feel against the skin. Percale sheets are highly breathable, which adds to comfort for sleeping.

    After years of experience in the textile industry, working closely with factories around the globe to promote Sustainable and ethical practices.

    I realised that many brands claim to be sustainable but fail to deliver!

    "It's like ordering a buckwheat wrap and then deep frying it” You ruin the goodness.

    If you are going to be Sustainable it must be done at every process: Farm to Finish.

    So Common Thread was born..Sustainable bedding made the right way!

    Designed in Australia, made in Pakistan and Portugal.

    We wanted to offer you Luxurious Bedding that feels Super Soft.

    Crafted from high quality fine yarn, 100% Organic Cotton certified. Woven with more threads called Percale, which makes it more durable and Long lasting.

    Our materials are traceable & compostable, ensuring that you can sleep soundly knowing your choices are planet friendly.

    We proudly partner with a highly accredited factory that prioritises environmental responsibility.This facility features water treatment plants, utilises solar energy, minimises energy consumption, avoids harsh chemicals, operates an eco-washing facility and most importantly, adheres to a fair work policy.

Plastic Neutral (or Positive)

Plastic Neutral (or better) should be a goal for ANY brand, but for these brands it is absolutely a MUST.

They have a strong focus on ensuring their entire business, supply chains and/or products put no additional plastic into our environment; or even better some are Plastic negative which means they extract more plastic from the environment than their brand creates.

Some minimise their use of plastic in products, some offset their small amount of plastic usage by supporting (or directly being involved in) frontline cleanup projects and others tackle the problem by avoiding virgin plastics through the use of recycled or upcycled plastic as their production resource inputs... however they address the problem these brands are all at LEAST plastic neutral.
